OPDR introduces Equipment Imbalance Surcharge

Hamburg, 20th October 2011. The economical situation in Portugal and Northern Spain has caused a tremendous shift in the Container equipment flow.

After close consultation with our Customer base, OPDR has agreed to take steps to safeguard the strong exports of our valued Customers from Portugal and Northern Spain to Northern Europe. OPDR will therefore implement an Equipment Imbalance Surcharge of EUR 50,- per Container.

The charge will be applicable for North bound domestic bookings from Lisbon, Leixões, La Coruña and Vigo to North West European Ports and to the Scan Baltic area and will be effective as from 1st of November 2011 (B/L Date).

This initiative goes hand in hand with the ongoing steps to reduce CO₂ emissions by moving goods by Sea instead of via land on trucks and simultaneously reduces the transport costs attached.
