Temporary suspension of calls at Tanger-Med and Tunis
Months of labour strikes and poor productivity at the Tanger-Med Port have now also forced OPDR – together with many other carriers – to reluctantly and temporarily suspend its calls at Tanger-Med.
Hamburg, 16th November 2011. Due to ongoing strikes with no end in sight, OPDR cannot accept any cargo for Tanger-Med and Tunis for the time being. As an alternative to Tanger-Med we offer our Customers the option of shipping their cargo to Casablanca.
Furthermore, Tanger-Med is also OPDR's port of transshipment for cargo to Tunis and as a consequence of this, OPDR cannot connect Tunis at the moment. OPDR is working hard on restarting the Tunis Service via other ports, however, as many other carriers have moved their services from Tanger-Med to Spanish ports like Algeciras or Malaga, those ports have already reached their maximum capacity.
OPDR sincerely regrets the situation and hopes to continue its services to Tangier and Tunis as soon as possible. We are very sorry for any inconveniences caused and will keep you informed about further developments.
